Goodbye Gnome

  • 0
News a few days ago: from the 11.10 Ubuntu distribution, users will no longer able to choose between Gnome and Unity. Unity will be the only available interface and Gnome will become just a memory.
Considering that Unity is one of the things I liked less of the last Ubuntu team developments together with the new, but in my opinion very malfunctioning Ubuntu Software Center, I will get interested in other GNU/Linux distributions maybe Debian based and maybe using Gnome...Mint for example.

We'll see...we'll see...

Terminator...now it's better

Here's another little discovery that helped me to work better on my Linux machine: Terminator.
Terminator is a GNOME-based terminal emulator that allows you to open multiple terminals in a single window. You can split the shell vertically and orizontally how many times as you want allowing you to have many visible and accessible terminals in the foreground.

A small change compared to the classic shells but it can be useful, especially in distributed programming.
Try it.

sudo apt-get install terminator
